Best Straight Flying Disc Golf Discs – An Introduction
We’ve all been there. You’re on the tee box and you are staring down a tunnel of trees wondering how in the world you are going to get your disc through it.
And, of course, as you are looking down it, the gap seems to narrow.
Eventually you have to throw. “Maybe you’ll get lucky,” you think to yourself as you size the shot up.
And what of this disc you’re throwing? Can it even make it down that narrow hallway of trees?
Throwing a straight shot in disc golf can be one of the hardest in the game to consistently execute. With that in mind, if you are trying to pull it off, you will want to make sure you have the best disc imaginable.
You want to feel like you’ve set yourself up for as much success as possible.
Luckily, we have some of the very best straight flying disc golf discs in the game outlined below. They are also, as it were, very highly rated. And, depending on your natural throwing motion, we’ll find be able to find the best disc for you.
Let’s begin looking at the best straight flying discs in disc golf.
Factors to Consider for Straight Flight
We will recommend some great straight flying disc golf discs in this post.
But there are definitely some factors you’ll want to consider so you can ensure you’ll get the straight flight you are looking for…
Plastic Type – Flight numbers on discs will stay the same, but depending on the plastic you choose, you can still get vastly different results from the same exact disc.
In general, the premium plastics are more stable. This means they are more likely to fade back at the end of their flight. It also means they are less likely to turn during the flight. So, depending on the power you are looking to put on the straight shot, you can choose your plastic type accordingly (if you have more power, you may want to go for the more stable plastics).
Seasoning – As you use your disc, it naturally seasons, or breaks in. This also limits the amount of end fade at the end of the disc. So, if the disc you buy doesn’t fly as straight as you hoped, by using it more and breaking it in, you can potentially limit the amount of end fade you get at the end of the flight. This may make it fly straighter…
Disc Speed – The first number for flight numbers is the speed. That tells you the intended speed that the disc is supposed to fly at for its intended flight to hold true. If you are cranking a putter at full power, it might turn on you significantly and not fly so straight. Be sure to select the correct disc for the appropriate shot.
Release Angle – Some discs are meant to be thrown flat to go straight. Others benefit from a little bit of a hyzer-flip (the far edge of the disc is pointed down on release before it flips up to flat) before they go straight. Still other discs, go straightest when they are flexed. Be sure to practice with your disc to know what makes it fly straightest.
Learn Your Disc – All of the above factors are a long way of saying that you should probably take your disc to a field and really learn it before you expect it to go straight down a narrow fairway in a tournament.
With the discs highlighted below, we’ll outline some of the situations where you might want to pull them out. Let’s go!
Best Straight-Flying Disc Golf Putters!
With throwing putters, you are going to find a lot that go fairly straight.

Straight Flight Fairway Drivers!
As we get into the higher speed discs with fairway drivers and then distance drivers, the straightest lines become harder to achieve, especially right out of the box.
For many, you will have to learn the right angle release and power to get it to go straight, and you will also probably need to break it in and season it just so, to get that forward finish.
Nevertheless, here are some fantastic straight flying disc golf discs in the category of fairway drivers!
The Latitude 64 River!
Flight Ratings: 7, 7, -1, 1
Straight Facts: The River, with it’s glide rating of 7, is another obvious entry into the post we did on Great Discs with High Glide. This is a smooth easy straight-line disc that is very forgiving and has the tendency to stay in people’s bags for life!
Also Good for: Easy Distance; Beginners; Holding longer hyzer and anhyzer lines.

Also Good for: Holding long hyzer and anhyzer lines.

Also Good for: Holding many lines; Forgiving less-than-stellar releases

Straight Flying Distance Drivers!
When you pull out a distance driver for a straight shot, it’s very reasonable to expect some fade as the disc loses speed at the end of it’s flight. In most cases, you should bank on it and account for it in your flight.
With that being said, there are some great distance drivers that don’t need a lot of left to right leeway in order to get a lot of distance.
In other words, they go straight for a long time before a finishing fade.
Here are some straight flying disc golf distance drivers that we really appreciate!
The Infinite Aztec
Flight Ratings: 10, 5, -1, 2
Straight Facts: The Aztec is a great disc to pull out when you need some straight flight one a narrow fairway for controlled distance. Depending on your power, release this thing on hyzer or flat and watch it rip straight before that reliable 2 fade at the end. It’s also a very versatile disc for players of all levels!
Also Good for: Holding many lines and long distance shot shaping.

The DGA Undertow & The DGA Rogue!
Flight Ratings: 10, 4, -1, 1 & 11, 4, -1, 1
Straight Facts: The Undertow and The Rogue are 10-speed and 11-speed straight flyers from DGA. With very similar speeds they also have very similar flight characteristics. These are consistent drivers with a reliable and gradual end fade.
Also Good for: Long, unwinding anhyzer shots. Stock hyzer shots.

The Rogue!
The Discmania Enigma!
Flight Ratings: 12, 5, -1, 2
Straight Facts: The Enigma is anything but enigmatic if you are looking for some straighter distance off the tee. In fact, it’s downright dependable. You can plan on a straight flight that doesn’t need much lateral space and will touch down with a reliable end fade.
Also Good for: Hyzer flips for big distance with faster arms; Reliable distance (better than typical) for slower arm speeds.

The Enigma!
The Infinite Pharaoh!
Flight Ratings: 13, 6, -1, 2
Straight Facts: Can we all agree that if you are trying to thread a needle on the course, it’s probably not the best idea to reach for a 13-speed disc? That being said, if you catch this disc right, The Pharaoh is a relatively straight, absolute bomber of a disc. For many people (us included!) this is their longest flying disc
Also Good for: Long, gliding, max distance drives!

The Pharaoh!
Straight Flight Forehand Discs!
When seeking a straight flying forehand disc, a lot of players will tell you, with good reason, you should just use the straight flying discs you already have and learn to master it forehand as well.
I can’t disagree! It’s always great advice to get into a field and throw shots repeatedly with a disc, forehand, backhand, or otherwise until you can really understand the disc.
That being said, some people appreciate a touch more stability in their forehand discs. That way they have a bit more forgiveness if they happen to roll their wrist a bit, and it won’t completely turn and burn on them.
We have an entire post dedicated to Great Forehand Discs for A Wide Variety of Forehand Shots that we think you’ll appreciate.
For now, here are some great straight flyers for your forehand as well.
The Innova Teebird
Flight Ratings: 7, 5, 0, 2 Average Rating: 4.76 stars!
Notes: The Teebird is an absolute forehand (and backhand) classic! It flies straight and true before consistently fading at the end. It’s a great disc in the wind and a complete reliable workhorse!

The RPM Tara Iti!
Flight Ratings: 10, 5, 0, 2
Straight Facts: The Tara Iti is one of RPM’s lesser known gems. It is a very flickable disc that flies straight without dumping off at the end. It’s a great disc for controllable forehand distance and a predictable fade. It compares very well to the popular Innova Thunderbird which is another straight flight forehand option that you won’t go wrong with.
Check out the Tara Iti here!
Also Good for: Flex shots; Controllable distance.
