Does a Disc Golf Basket Silencer Work?
This is obviously the most important question to ask.
If it doesn’t work, then what’s the point?
Our answer? “Yes, but…”
First off, yes, it absolutely works! It deadens the vibrations of discs and chains hitting hollow metal poles. It drops decibel levels AND it shortens the duration of the noise as well.
The “but” is this: But, we don’t recommend you use it in your bedroom while your significant other or your child is trying to sleep.
That won’t end well.
The point is that the basket still makes some noise. Given the fact that it’s inexpensive and quite effective we still think it’s well worth it!
What Do We Recommend?
We have two silencers that work very similarly AND a basket recommendation as well.
The silencers have a hook and loop fastener that easily attaches to the pole in seconds. The key is that you have to make sure the silencer slides down to where the basket meets the pole (go as far down as possible). The rings that are at the bottom, which attach to the chains, are where a large bulk of the noise come from. We want to put a barrier between them and that pole.
After that, voila! You can practice stress free!
