If you are looking for an easily collapsible (foldable) basket that you can put in your car and bring the game of disc golf with you wherever you go, then this basket is a really good choice.

In addition, if you are looking for your collapsible basket to be durable, then this basket is a really good choice.

If, you still want it to be good for putting, but you also recognize it won’t be as suitable as a much heavier course basket, then this basket is a really good choice.

It’s all about what you want out of it.

To us, this basket is a tried and true, versatile, market-tested, market-approved foldable travel disc golf basket. It’s sturdy and good for putting, but it’s not going to offer all the benefits of a course basket which would be far heavier. Let’s look closely at some of the upside for this basket and make sure it’s what you are looking for!

Easy to Move – The DGA Mach Lite is easy to fold up and travel with. It takes less than a few minutes to set it up or break it down, and it slides easily in and out of the bag that comes included.

Good for Putting – This basket is good at catching putts! No, it’s not as good as your course basket but those cost and weigh much, much more. The DGA Mach Lite catches putts much better than most foldable disc golf travel baskets and has two layers of chains to make sure those putts drop! It’s also regulation size so you know you are practicing on a size you’ll see on the course!

Sturdy Design – This basket is market tested by countless disc golfers and is put through the ringer. It is built like a tank and made to last. It also stays firmly rooted to the ground and you don’t have to worry about it blowing over in the wind or if it gets accidentally bumped.

Weather Resistant – We don’t leave ours out in the rain if we can help it, but its not affected when we do. It also has a well-earned reputation of being very resistant to the elements including wind, rain, sun and snow!

1-Year Warranty – We feel confident you won’t need to act on this warranty, but if you did, it’s nice to know you have a year (unlike some of the other collapsible baskets we see on the market.)

When To Choose a Different Basket

Hypothetically speaking, let’s pretend you have two automobiles to choose for a trip; a truck and a trusty sedan.

On this particular trip, you know that you will be going across all sorts of rugged terrain to get to a pretty remote spot.

Which vehicle are you choosing?

Most likely you chose the truck (We did too). But does that make the sedan a bad car? Of course not! By all accounts it’s a great, reliable car, that, in most cases, gets you where you need to go! It just so happens this is not one of those cases and you don’t want to go off-roading with your Toyota Corolla!

Similarly, as long as you use the DGA Mach Lite for what it was intended for, it’s a fantastic, reliable, durable basket that you can pack up and travel with at a moment’s notice.

With that in mind, here are some uses we don’t recommend it for.

It’s Not a Permanent Course Basket – If for whatever reason, you were in a pinch and The DGA Mach Lite was the only basket you could get. Or, let’s say you are setting up a trial hole on your course or you wanted to set up an alternative basket placement for a tournament. The Mach Lite will definitely come through in a pinch. We just wouldn’t recommend buying 18 of them and putting them out on your course and expecting them to perform as well as traditional, more heavy-duty course baskets.

It’s not The “Best” basket for Putting – It’s still really good and we like it a lot. But part of the magic of the DGA Mach Lite is the portability. You can pop it in your car and easily set up a putting basket or a temporary hole virtually anywhere. But if, for example, you are looking for a basket to keep in your shed and only take out for putting practice, we’d recommend some others with heavier chains and more traditional portable baskets for that.

It’s Not for Leaving Outside 24/7 – The DGA Mach Lite will hold up to the elements better than any collapsible travel basket we’ve come across. However, it does have canvas materials and it also has a lot of joints in it where water can work its way in. So, if you are in the market for a basket to leave in your back yard, we would recommend a different basket. (We have a post coming soon on this!)

That’s all we could come up with! As long as you are not looking for that in your basket The DGA Mach Lite is a great option!
