2023 FPO Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings!

In today’s post we review the 2023 FPO Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings! This is the complement to my MPO Fantasy Power Rankings that can be found here! I hope both serve you very well in your drafts. Let’s begin!

Just In! 2024 Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings are out! These are mixed division and also have separate MPO and FPO Rankings so be sure to Check Out These 2024 Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings Right Now!

Can I just say that I am thrilled that Skipace.com is also including the FPO players in their draft leagues.

I thoroughly enjoy watching those players absolutely battle it out on the courses.

It’s a great product!

The only problem is, I didn’t get the memo.

I didn’t know players from the FPO division were eligible for the draft format this year.

As a result I only made my 2023 Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings for the MPO division.

That post took me a LONG time! I had to track down all the data, analyze it, and try in present it in the best way I could.

Now, with the start of the season fast approaching, I’ve worked double time to give you these Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings for the players in the FPO division.

I wanted to do it right. But I also felt the time crunch.

If you think I omitted anyone, or want me to change positions, by all means let me know in the comments!

First, let’s look at some of the considerations I made when ranking!

2023 FPO Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings – Considerations

Just like with the MPO Power Rankings, I considered Availability, Player Rating, PDGA Rank, putting, age, and general statistics.

But there were a few more variables to look at that I lay out below.

Here are some more thoughts to reflect deeply on when drafting your Fantasy Disc Golf FPO players!

Less FPO Player Slots – I’m sure it’s customizable, but, by and large, there are less FPO player slots than MPO player slots on a given team. As a result, I have ranked less players.

Different Scoring for FPO Finishes – In general, the scoring system awards less points for a given finish to an FPO player in a given tournament. I think this is because, as of right now, there is much more variability in the MPO division for a given tournament (an MPO player could finish 1st one week and 63rd the next, and Kristin Tattar is probably top 3 every week she plays).

Right now, 1st place for each division is worth 250 points.

But if you look at 10th place, for example, it changes drastically (MPO 10th place = 192pts; FPO 10th place = 90 pts.)

Draft Values – I’m not a math major, unfortunately. Given that there are less FPO players and less points awarded for a given finish, it’s difficult to know, where a given player should be drafted.

Should Catrina Allen go ahead of Kyle Klein in a draft for example? When you are not accustomed to seeing them play head to head t’s hard to say!

So, by ranking the FPO players separately, I leave those decisions (and that math) up to you. (You’re welcome)! And please feel free to chime in if you have definitive answers on this!

My FPO Fantasy Disc Golf Sources

Just like the MPO rankings I did previously, I have leaned on statmando.com for general statistics for individual players in past years.

For specific data on player stats (like C1X putting) I relied on this page from udisc.

For general ranking data, I looked to PDGA’s data here.

I found all of these sites helpful and I suggest you check them out yourself!

General Message

I know two thing to be true about my power rankings.

  1. They are flawed.
  2. They are the best I could come up with with the information I had (and I think they’re quite good!).

So, as you draft, if you more info and/or you have a feeling about a player, please don’t let my rankings hold you back.

I never follow a power rankings list to a T.

Treat mine as more of a guide!

2023 FPO Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings!

Okay, it’s time!

Let’s look at the 2023 FPO Fantasy Disc Golf Power Rankings!

May they serve you well!

Tier 1 – Absolute Wrecking Ball (if Healthy)

worm's-eye view photography of red and silver wrecking ball near electric post under clear blue sky

This is a one-person tier. And last year, this one person finished on the podium (top 3) 100% of the time and won 50% of the events.

She’s an absolute wrecking ball.

Surgeries and schedule questions definitely blur the lines of what would, unquestionably, be the #1 pick.

Nevertheless, I can’t ignore last year’s shear domination!

Pick # 1 – Kristin Tattar

PDGA Tour Ranking: 1

2022 PDGA Rating: 988

2022 C1X Putting: 75%

Availability Projection: Moderate

Age: 30

Reasoning: Tattar is coming off a surgery in her throwing arm AND she usually takes a break from the U.S. tour limiting her events. Despite this, and because she is such a tour de force, she gets the #1 slot but the gap is not as wide as the numbers show.

Tier 2 – Tried and True!

These players bring a combination of experience and elite consistency that you can rely on for stellar fantasy production week in and week out.

Pick # 2 – Paige Pierce

PDGA Tour Ranking: 2

2022 PDGA Rating: 973

2022 C1X Putting: 74%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 32

Reasoning: Pierce won 25% of her fantasy events and made podium for just over 40% of them. She’s still elite and, with someone like her, I’m guessing she’s still hungry for more. Pierce is a rock-solid pick for any team and my only other consideration for the #1 spot.

Pick # 3 – Catrina Allen

PDGA Tour Ranking: 3

2022 PDGA Rating: 968

2022 C1X Putting: 71%

Availability Projection: Very High

Age: 38

Reasoning: You can set a watch to Allen’s consistency getting 82% top-10s in fantasy events last year. She won’t wow you with any one aspect of her game but she’s about as steady as they come and her experience in winning shows itself in big spots when she’s got it all working for her.

Tier 3 – Three’s Company

Did I just make an incredibly dated sitcom reference from even before my time?

You bet I did!

And if you think I didn’t alternate between that show and “The Price is Right” on sick days home from school as a kid, then you just don’t know me.

Digressions aside, I feel like the next 3 players, from a fantasy perspective, are going to give you similar results for different reasons and with vastly different playing styles.

Pick what fits your style and reap the rewards.

Pick # 4 – Valerie Mandujano

PDGA Tour Ranking: 4

2022 PDGA Rating: 969

2022 C1X Putting: 79%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 24

Reasoning: Valerie Mandujano has the biggest swings (least top 10’s) of the 3 players in this tier, but also the highest upside (and most wins). She’s a strong putter and she’s only 24 so I like the potential for an even bigger year!

*Injury Update* Valerie had a severe ankle sprain in January which might cause her to miss events up till or thru April. You can let her slide a little and get high value for the second half of the season later in the draft!

Pick # 5 – Missy Gannon

PDGA Tour Ranking: 6

2022 PDGA Rating: 969

2022 C1X Putting: 76%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 35

Reasoning: Missy had 74% top 10 finishes, 32% podium, and 10% wins in fantasy events last year. There’s no reason to think she won’t keep that steady point scoring train rolling down the tracks in 2023.

Pick # 6 – Ohn Scoggins

PDGA Tour Ranking: 5

2022 PDGA Rating: 977

2022 C1X Putting: 84%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 40+

Reasoning: Scoggins finished top 10 in 89% of her fantasy events last year and got podium in 44%. She just didn’t get that elusive W. I think there is a chance that Scoggins drops in your drafts and you have the best FPO putter (by far) for your squad at a great value!

Tier 4 – A One-Person Bridge

brown wooden bridge over river
This next player bridges between two tiers!

There’s one person in this tier. In my mind, this player is somewhat of a bridge between two tiers (Hence the name).

I’m also hopeful that she will secure herself as an upper-tier player by the end of the year.

You decide for yourself and see what you think!

Pick # 7 – Holyn Handley

PDGA Tour Ranking: 14

2022 PDGA Rating: 966

2022 C1X Putting: 72

Availability Projection: Somewhat High

Age: 28

Reasoning: Is this just a hot take? I don’t think so at all. If she played a smidge more, I might even have her higher. Whatever Holyn Handley is selling, I’m buying! I think age, experience (lower than others), athleticism, talent, and competitiveness all come together nicely for Handley in an outstanding 2023 campaign.

Tier 5 – Play A Lot Score A Lot

These three players play a lot of events and I see no reason for them to let down this year. In addition to playing a lot, they do quite well. Their top 10 percentage rates are 64%, 62% and 52% respectively.

Look for any of these 3 players to be solid backbones in your lineup, and keep an eye out for potential slides on draft day as well.

Pick # 8 – Sarah Hokom

PDGA Tour Ranking: 8

2022 PDGA Rating: 962

2022 C1X Putting: 71%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 40+

Reasoning: Sarah Hokom is a true professional that keeps an even keel, and knows how to get things done on the course. She’s a forehand specialist that finished top-10 in 64% of her events last year and made podium in 24%. I also like her to slide a bit in your draft, so don’t hesitate to pick her up late!

Pick # 9 – Kat Mersch

PDGA Tour Ranking: 10

2022 PDGA Rating: 960

2022 C1X Putting: 72

Availability Projection: High

Age: 22

Reasoning: Kat Mersch has made steady progress in the past 3 years. Last year she made an impressive jump and finished top-10 in 61% of her fantasy events. At age 22, I like the upside of this pick. Look for Mersch to continue her upward trend and provide a lot of steady value to your fantasy squad!

Pick # 10 – Ella Hansen

PDGA Tour Ranking: 11

2022 PDGA Rating: 958

2022 C1X Putting: 69%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 27

Reasoning: Hansen finished top-10 in just over half of her events. She can also crush and her putting is still representative. Hansen is another player that has shown steady improvement in her short time in the game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her continue that upward trajectory.

Tier 6 – It’s Not Where You Start, It’s Where You Finnish!

That sounds like a bad Jeopardy category, and I’m not sure it makes all that much sense.

But, as you might have guessed, this is reserved for our two uber-talented Finnish players that have somewhat questionable fantasy schedules (They play a lot in Europe) or they would otherwise have been higher.

And if they ever get their putting dialed in, you should look out!

Note: Given their tempered schedules I would NOT pick both players on one team. My guess is that they play very similar US schedules which could leave you a big void when they are away.

Pick # 11 – Henna Blomroos

PDGA Tour Ranking: 13

2022 PDGA Rating: 969

2022 C1X Putting: 58%

Availability Projection: Moderate

Age: 22

Reasoning: Henna is a young, extremely talented player, that struggles mightily on the putting green. This combined with her reduced schedule are the ONLY reasons she drops this low. Her ratings and top 10 finishes over 80% suggest a much higher draft spot.

Pick # 12 – Eveliina Salonen

PDGA Tour Ranking: 7

2022 PDGA Rating: 970

2022 C1X Putting: 52%

Availability Projection: Moderate

Age: 24

Reasoning: See Write-up for Henna Blomroos… Okay, I won’t try and sneak out of a write-up. They are very similar in terms of production though. Salonen is more technical with her shot-making and slightly less productive on the putting green. Another incredibly talented player.

Tier 7 – Talent and Upside!

Each of these players in tier 7 have talent in spades and could provide a lot of fantasy value later in the draft.

The reason they fell this far varies. For some it’s the schedule, and for others it’s the fact that they still haven’t quite proven themselves.

Whatever the case, there is some risk to these picks and you may want to target a player that fits your specific game plan.

Pick # 13 – Macie Velediaz

PDGA Tour Ranking: 16

2022 PDGA Rating: 959

2022 C1X Putting: 68%

Availability Projection: Moderate

Age: 24

Reasoning: Velediaz slides to this spot for her lower projected schedule. Otherwise, she’s an extremely talented player that can work backhand and forehand effectively and score quite nicely for your team as evidenced by her 57% top ten finishes last year.

Pick # 14 – Hailey King

PDGA Tour Ranking: 12

2022 PDGA Rating: 964

2022 C1X Putting: 74%

Availability Projection: Moderate

Age: 21

Reasoning: Do yourself a favor and watch a highlight reel of Hailey King if you haven’t already. The kid can absolutely spin it. She throws like she was born with a disc in her hand! But last year was a bit of a down year and she typically plays a reduced schedule so she drops a bit in the rankings. Huge upside potential here though!

Pick # 15 – Maria Oliva

PDGA Tour Ranking: 18

2022 PDGA Rating: 946

2022 C1X Putting: 67%

Availability Projection: Very High

Age: 26

Reasoning: Although she’s 26, she hasn’t been playing as long as some of the other players her age. She’s improved steadily in her few seasons on tour and I see a lot of upside for you to grab in the later rounds of your draft.

Pick # 16 – Alexis Mandujano

PDGA Tour Ranking: 17

2022 PDGA Rating: 947

2022 C1X Putting: 77%

Availability Projection: Somewhat High

Age: 23

Reasoning: Most likely, other boards have Alexis Mandujano ranked higher. She’s already shown she has all the skills, and her putting is top-5. If I could pick her for a dynasty league, I would. This year, however, I’m probably going to let someone else take the high upside she clearly has because I need to see her put it all together consistently. I think that’s fair.

Pick # 17 – Emily Beach

PDGA Tour Ranking: 15

2022 PDGA Rating: 948

2022 C1X Putting: 74%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 24

Reasoning: Last year was Emily Beach’s first year of full touring and she acquitted herself quite admirably. Given her age, I like the upside she can provide after getting the experience of a full year on tour. Given her ranking, I’m not sure how far she’ll drop, but she could be a nice player to take a flyer on in the late rounds.

Tier 8 – Predictable Value – Lower Upside

The players in this tier are very good at disc golf and can score points for your team.

No question about it.

However, if you look at their stats in the years leading up to 2023, they seem to have leveled out for the most part.

Basically, you know you are getting a contributor, but it’s probably unreasonable to expect them to go scorched earth for your team.

These players are also considered rock solid bets for spot starters in a pinch.

Pick # 18 – Jessica Weese

PDGA Tour Ranking: 24

2022 PDGA Rating: 947

2022 C1X Putting: 65%

Availability Projection: Very High

Age: 28

Reasoning: Weese, as I said in the blurb above, is very good at disc golf and she plays a lot! However, here are her approximate ratings the last 4 years for fantasy events. 946, 945, 951, 951. Rock solid! If you pick Jessica, you feel pretty certain about what you’re getting.

Pick # 19 – Jennifer Allen

PDGA Tour Ranking: 19

2022 PDGA Rating: 955

2022 C1X Putting: 56%

Availability Projection: Moderate

Age: 40+

Reasoning: Allen has a significantly higher rating than the previous 4 players in these rankings. And last year, she played significantly more fantasy events than any of her previous years. This one is hard to quantify. I would consider targeting her in late rounds and hope she plays a good deal to give you value at that pick.

Pick # 20 – Lisa Fajkus

PDGA Tour Ranking: 20

2022 PDGA Rating: 950

2022 C1X Putting: 75%

Availability Projection: Somewhat High

Age: 38

Reasoning: Like Allen (at 19), Fajkus played a lot more last year than previous years. And she’s still got it! But she’s another that’s hard to quantify. She’s a skilled vet that can still land on the podium (twice last year) and provide value for your team, if you time her starts correctly!

Pick # 21 – Juliana Korver

PDGA Tour Ranking: 21

2022 PDGA Rating: 946

2022 C1X Putting: 50%

Availability Projection: Moderate

Age: 50+

Reasoning: Hats off to Juliana Korver! She’s still a force on the course over the age of 50! With a C1X percentage below her age, how does she do it? Well, having the lowest OB rate on tour last year is a good place to start. She’s another, where if you can time up her starts, you can grab a lot of value (top-10 in 43% of events last year!)

Pick # 22 – Rebecca Cox

PDGA Tour Ranking: 23

2022 PDGA Rating: 948

2022 C1X Putting: 57%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 29

Reasoning: Rebecca Cox is another really good player that’s hard to quantify in a fantasy sense. She can have outstanding tournaments and tough ones. She seems to start out well, so you could look to draft her for early in the season for some quality starts and see where it goes from there.

Pick # 23 – Madison Walker

PDGA Tour Ranking: 22

2022 PDGA Rating: 945

2022 C1X Putting: 70%

Availability Projection: Somewhat High

Age: 35

Reasoning: Walker is a strong player that can have some ups and downs from tournament to tournament. As such, I’d mostly consider her a spot starter. And with 22% of her finishes in the top -10 last year there’s still fantasy value to be had!

Sleepers and Upside Picks!

There’s no guarantee on any of these.

Some of these players might not drop in your draft and others are younger and harder to predict.

Nevertheless, here are some players you can look out for in your draft and see if they work for you.

Sleeper/Upside Pick # 1 – Aria Castruita

PDGA Tour Ranking: 31

2022 PDGA Rating: 939

2022 C1X Putting: 70%

Availability Projection: Low to Moderate (see age)

Age: 16

Reasoning: If these were rankings for dynasty players (where you get to keep certain players year to year), she would be much, much higher. She’s super-talented and has a bright future. She also finished high in birdie rates/parked rates which I like as an indicator. But she’s also 16 and probably has to balance high school with her career. Keep an eye on her though!

Sleeper/Upside Pick # 2 – Deann Carey

PDGA Tour Ranking: 25

2022 PDGA Rating: 945

2022 C1X Putting: 73

Availability Projection: High

Age: 24

Reasoning: There are a lot of players in FPO that hover in the 935 – 950 rating range. It can be hard to pick from them. I noticed 2 trends with Carey that are worth noting. First, she is still improving each year. Second, her last 3 ratings last year were 963, 972, and 962 good for 8th, 4th and 2nd place respectively. Watch how she does early!

Sleeper/Upside Pick # 3 – Kona Panis (Montgomery)

PDGA Tour Ranking: 30

2022 PDGA Rating: 939

2022 C1X Putting: 55%

Availability Projection: High

Age: 25

Reasoning: Last year was a down year for Kona. It was a bit feast or famine and would be difficult to pin down which events to put her in for. But, if she regains her 2021 form where she placed top-10 in 67% of her events, then you’ve got yourself a steal!

Sleeper/Upside Pick # 4 – Paige Shue

PDGA Tour Ranking: NA

2022 PDGA Rating: 929

2022 C1X Putting: typically 66 – 69%

Availability Projection: Unclear

Age: 27

Reasoning: Shue used to be a major player a few years back and took time off to raise her family. If she were in her 2018 form, she’d be in the top-10. But there’s clearly an adjustment stage for her as she gets back into pro life. The upside is obvious, but I would simply keep a close eye on her to see if she’s regaining her old form and put her on your team if she does!

Other Players to Consider!

Heather Young (young lefty), Sai Ananda (playing a lot more this year), Stacie Hass, or Stacey Rawnsley (started in 2019 and played ultimate) are all players with upside and I won’t argue with you at all if you want them for your team!

There are also some European players like Heidi Laine (super talented, played 3 events last year), Keiti Tatte, Kaidi Allsalu (2 events in 2022)or Lykke Lorentzen that are still hard to get an idea about in terms of schedule to upside ratio.

Finally, there are names like Vanessa Van Dyken, Cynthia Ricciotti, Erika Stinchcomb, and Holly Finley (29% top-10 last year but hard to predict). All are very good players and could make a run this year.

But, like I said for my MPO Rankings, at a certain point you have to pick your team and live with the results.

Good luck in picking yours!
