Cherry Hill Disc Golf Course Review!

Welcome! Disc Golf Around is a site dedicated to all things disc golf. Whether it’s course reviews, helpful tips, access to the game’s best players/products, or anything else disc golf related, Disc Golf Around is made with you in mind. Today’s review is on Cherry Hill Disc Golf Course! Let’s begin!

Course review Introduction

Cherry Hill disc golf course is a seasonal (November thru March) disc golf course located on a scenic golf course in North Amherst, MA.

As is typical of a golf course, this one certainly has it’s share of wide open shots.

And yet, the designers cleverly tucked many of the baskets amongst the trees that line the fairways. In the end, you get a fair share of semi-wooded shots mixed with open ones.

You certainly have to be careful with your approaches as well, as some of these baskets are quite protected.

Some, on the other hand, are wide open. And as you climb up the hilly terrain you are rewarded with majestic views. It’s an absolutely perfect backdrop for your winter disc golf needs.

With very little foot traffic (except the occasional porcupine (see photo)) you are almost guaranteed to have a peaceful disc golf experience.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the specifics now!

Signature Holes

These are just the opinion of the writer. With each course I like to showcase a few holes and explain what stuck out to me on that particular day. Then, I let the photos do the talking…

There is one hole, above all others that stands out as a signature hole. What goes up must come down. And in this case, you and your discs come down fast!

After gradually climbing to the top of the course and playing a good amount of holes with scenic views at the top, hole 13 is a downhill bomber hole that is too much fun to ignore.

Hole 13

If you catch it right, you can watch your drive sore majestically down the hill, with a picturesque backdrop, towards the basket in the center of the fairway.

Hole 5

Pick your line and commit to it!

Will you go left, right or straight up the middle?

If you hit that line, you can collect a nice birdie on a hole that’s very reachable for most players.

Hole 12

Get your disc moving left to right and you could land on the tier where the basket sits and be greeted by a nice view while you tap in your birdie.

But don’t go too far, because that pitch is far steeper than it looks in the photo!

Hole 7

This is a nice downhill shot to a basket perfectly situated in a carvout by the trees.

Get your distance right and you can pick up an easier birdie.

Get your distance and line wrong, and you’ll likely find yourself in the thick brush scrambling for par.

Ideas to Borrow for Future Course

Some day I would like to construct my own disc golf course. Come along for the ride and see if I do (Subscribe)! With each course, I play, I want to find some element that I appreciate and can use for a course I help create some day…

Scenic Views and open shots!

If there is a view to be had in a course, it’s well worth getting it. And if you can get a basket perched with a view and/or a majestic drive for players, then it’s all the better!

Of course, you are somewhat at the mercy of the course you are building on, but the extra effort it might take to attain these things is worth it!

19th Hole

After a round there is nothing better than going to a local establishment, having a beer (or whatever you want), some food, and talking about your round (or just disc golf in general). This section is always open to suggestions on where the best place to go after your round is…

two mugs of brown liquids
Relax and have a pint after your round. Get a bite to eat as well and feel free to let disc golf be the topic du jour!

Very close by is a hidden gem of a pub that is friendly, has good food, and plenty of pints on tap for your post-round enjoyment. Be sure to check out The Harp!

Course In Summary

If, like me, you appreciate people’s efforts to install a disc golf course, even if it’s temporary, then you might also like to reward these efforts with a donation (and don’t forget to mention you donated for disc golf).

And those who do check out Cherry Hill’s seasonal (November thru March) disc golf course get a fun, open-yet-creative experience with some very scenic views and some really fun shots.

Go give Cherry Hill disc golf course a look and enjoy!
