Disc Raptor Cleaning Tool: A Complete Review!

In today’s post we will review V2 of the Disc Raptor Cleaning Tool. In addition to seeing if it’s a good fit for you we will also discuss some of the upgrades on the already popular first version and take a look at how to use the tool most effectively. Let’s begin!

Disc Raptor Cleaning tool – An Introduction

In disc golf, if you are not fully focused on executing your shot, you are starting at a deficit.

Sure, you still might pull it off. But it’s less likely. Distractions can come in all shapes and sizes, and the more you mitigate them, the better off you are.

Then, there’s the actual performance piece. Few people would argue that reducing your ability to properly grip your disc decreases your chances of an pulling off the shot.

This is where The Disc Raptor shines. It absolutely devours the grit, grime, grass and moisture that can distract the player and can also cause errant shots due to a poor grip.

Better yet, they’ve come out with a newly upgraded version (V2) that only improves upon the highly effective and highly rated debut version (V1).

Let’s take a closer look at how having a disc raptor can help you elevate your game.

Disc Raptor: What is it and how do I use it?

When we reached out to Disc Raptor to see if they wanted a review, they happily sent us their upgraded V2 along with their waffle towel.

When you know your products are good, I’m sure you don’t mind sending them out for reviews.

Before we received it, we admittedly had a slightly misguided vision for how to use it. We knew it was great for getting moisture, mud and grime off the disc, but we didn’t know yet that there was a better way to maximize it.

Basically, the Disc Raptor in the image, is positioned the way you should be holding it: With the mouth pointing down.

In this way, as you twist your disc in the pocket, you are using gravity and letting any extraneous build-up fall to the ground. In addition, if you apply a good amount of hand pressure (no need to baby the Disc Raptor. It’s plenty durable!) near the bottom edge (right around where the logo is) you can ensure that none of the grime you are trying to shed, even makes it inside the device. Now, the absorbent “innards” can do their job even better and dry your disc as well.

Below, we’ll link to a video to show you how the founder of Disc Raptor uses his.

Disc Raptor How-To Video!

If you want extra advice from the guy who has the most hours on Earth with the Disc Raptor (The Founder of the Company), he’s made a video on how to get the most out of your Disc Raptor and maximize its effectiveness.

Maximizing Your Disc Raptor!

One other bit of advice that we found to be useful was this: Run your Disc Raptor through the wash before you even use it.

One of the brilliant aspects of the Disc Raptor is that it is extremely easy to wash. Just turn it inside out, pop it in the wash, and let it air dry. Then, after it’s dry, put it back to it’s original orientation and bring it out on the course.

The reason you want to wash it right away, as it was explained to us, is that it helps wash away some of that factory coating, and instantly helps improve the absorbency of the device.

In addition, because Disc Raptor sent us one of their waffle towels, we took that out with us for our testing sessions as well. The waffle towel, in its own right, is very good. But, when we combined it with the disc raptor, it was an unstoppable combination.

We used the Disc Raptor as intended, then used the waffle towel for that finishing touch to wipe away any final hints of moisture.

Both are very reasonably priced and if you are getting the Disc Raptor, we recommend tacking on the waffle towel! You can find it on their website here.

V2 Brings the Upgrades!

The original Disc Raptor cleaning tool was very highly reviewed and rated.

As such, not a lot of upgrades were even in the works. But, they found a few things to improve upon the original, and now the product is even better.

The most impactful upgrade they made was a reinforcement on the Disc Raptor’s hanging loop. Naturally, the Disc Raptor hangs usefully from any clip on your bag. And unlike many towels, it does not come close to dragging on the ground.

But, given the wear and tear a disc golfer puts on their items, reinforcing the hanging loop is a nice upgrade and one that will ensure longer use of their product.

The second upgrade, for those interested, is more on the aesthetic side, and that is that the logo on the cleaning tool was upgraded from cloth to rubber!

With that in mind, at the time of this post, if you are looking for a slight discount you can still get V1 at discraptor.com

The Disc Raptor is Highly Rated!

We put a lot of stock in what disc golfers say about disc golf products. If they are not too keen on a product, it usually reflects in the comments and the ratings.

Well, both V1 and V2 of the Disc Raptor come highly rated. And for good reason! We found the product to be highly effective.

On their website, in fact, there is only one rating below 4 or 5 stars (with 90% being at the 5-star level). This lone low rating only claims they didn’t get it. That’s not exactly a rating against the product. It’s probably since been resolved and the person never bothered to take it down.

Overwhelmingly, independent of where you view their reviews, you are going to find people that speak very highly of the product.

Don’t just take it from us. This thing is good!

If it’s Good Enough for the Pros…

If it’s good enough for the pros, it’s probably good enough for me. That’s how I think at least.

So, when I see The Disc Raptor hanging from a pro’s bag, that’s as good as an endorsement as I need.

Most notably, for me, I recently saw Ezra Robinson bring his Disc Raptor out in some very nasty conditions on lead card of the final round at Music City Open. Mud, grit, grime and plenty more were in abundance. Look for it any time he picks up his bag (the first time being at 4:36).
