In today’s post, I’m going to outline some of the games top-rated disc golf discs of 2024, and why you should be reviewing this list for your own disc needs. I’ll also present some highly ranked discs that I own and make the case for each (Hint: I love them all!). Included, I’m going to put together a wish list and ask for your feedback as well. All told, I think there is a lot of value for you here when selecting a disc. These discs can elevate your game and have a very high likelihood of finding a spot in your bag! Let’s go!

Top-Rated Disc Golf Discs – Introduction
You can go ahead and call me old-fashioned.
Or, if you’re like my students who are uncovering their sense of humor, you can just call me old.
But, there is a certain wisdom that comes with having gone around the block a few times. One thing that absolutely stands out is the lack of need to have the newest, latest and greatest products.
Sure, the looks of envy you get when you unveil your new gadget are enticing. But all new things, no matter how great, eventually lose their luster. And more often than not, you find out they were never that great to begin with.
My favorite example of this growing up, came in the early 90’s with the minidisc. Nowadays, you say minidisc to a disc golfer and a far different image comes to mind. But back in 1992, it was the newest revolution in the music industry. It had the great digital sound of the CD, and was able to be copied over like a cassette tape. It was the best of both worlds! And my best friend simply had to have it. He sunk all his money that he had accumulated in his 13 years of life into the player and the discs. And he loved it! But then, it just never caught on. The public said no, and he was left holding the bag…
It turns out, if you read this article, minidiscs were more of a success in Japan. Too bad he lived in Massachusetts…
But still, the lesson I took by watching my friend was simple. Wait and watch. Let the market tell you if it’s worth it, and then you can invest. Let it become tried and true!
And while it’s probably not as fun, it’ll definitely save you a lot time, effort and money. Hard to argue with that… This is why I present this post to you. Here are the tried and true, field tested, disc golfer approved, top rated disc golf discs you can buy. The very best!
With so much approval there is a great chance you’ll find a disc that elevates your game and fills a void in your bag!
Popular Disc Criteria
In order to be considered for this post, discs had to meet certain criteria. They are as follows:
Number of reviews: For it to be considered “well-reviewed”, I’m going to make sure that it has at least 10 reviews. This seems like a fair number to me, and won’t eliminate too many discs that may end up improving your game as well… As you’ll see below, I end up making a few exceptions to this rule!
Popularity: In order for this disc to meet the criteria for being a top-rated disc golf disc, it will have to have an average rating of at least 4.8 stars out of a possible 5 stars.
Availability: I’m a huge fan of Infinite Discs. They have everything I could possibly need. But, if they don’t happen to have it in stock (probably because it’s so popular) at the time of this post, I may put the disc in my wish list at the end, but I won’t feature it. No need to get your hopes up only to have them shattered!
Now that the criteria are set, let’s find you some of the highest rated, tried and true discs to help you improve your game!
Top-Rated Discs – PUTTING PUTTERS
I own a lot of putting putters. I know I’m not alone in this either. Putting is such a massively important part of the game, so it stands to reason that we make sure we have the absolute best fit for ourselves.
And by and large, after purchasing a basket, I have made great strides in the world of putting. If you don’t have one, I highly recommend a disc golf basket for improving your putting and dramatically lowering your scores! But as for putters, despite having many to choose from, it doesn’t mean I don’t want to keep searching for that perfect one to get an edge!
Taking it a step further, I don’t feel bad at all owning so many different putters. I heard an interview with Matt Bell, one of the better putters in the game (He recommends the EV-7 Phi btw.), when he extoled the virtues of putting with many different kinds of putters. Done and done!
So if you are still looking for your perfect putter, you may very well have come to the right place. Here are some that I love that many others feel strongly about as well!

Go ahead and cue the “Rico Sauve” music. It’s apropos for this smooth putter. And since this gem of an early 90’s song/video came out right before the minidisc that I referenced earlier, someone please comment below in the off chance that you had this song on minidisc! A guy can dream…

Right now, The Sparta, by the Finnish company Prodiscus, might very well be my putting putter of choice. It’s definitely what I bag at the time of writing this. Though, once I get a few more putters on my wishlist, I think I might need to have a putt off!
Nevertheless, it has a great feel, durable plastic, an ever-so-subtle bead that I like and glides just enough to get me over the rim and grab chains! I really doubt you’ll regret getting one. I know of at least 9 people that don’t! Check out the Sparta here!

Putting Wish List – The Alpaca!

The Alpaca, by Infinite Discs, is on my wish list for sure. I will have one. Reading the reviews I see that people love it for putting AND throwing. For putting it is a beadless putter with a deeper dome.

I think you could very easily argue that the driving putters from the previous section could fall into this category of “approach putters” rather easily. I think what I’m really going for in this section are putters that are slower than midranges but can handle all of the torque of a midrange.
More specifically, I want a putter that I can throw consistently into headwinds that can also handle the higher torque of a forehand approach. These serve an invaluable role in your disc golf game..

I absolutely love The Zone! And based on the review stats, I’m clearly not alone! This overstable putter is great for approaches forehand and backhand. It can handle a ton of torque. I can forehand anhyzer this thing around a tree and know that it’s going to flex back every time.
Try doing that with other putters and your guess is as good as mine where it ends up! In addition, it’s substantially slower than some of my midranges so I don’t worry about overthrowing the basket. It takes the dynamic of touch out of the equation and I can just let it rip. I like it in Big Z FLX plastic for great durability and a softer landing, with less fear of the roll-away. The A5, from Prodigy, is well-loved for good reason. It has a great hand feel and a perfect balance of stability to help you nestle your approach shots right up next to the basket.
You can give it a rip, expect it to fly straight and finish with a reliable fade at the end of its flight. It’s easily reproducible and consistent and this disc is very forgiving as well!

“Utility” Approach Putter Wish List – PA-5
To me, the “utility” approach putter is on the other end of the spectrum from the zone. Incidentally, if you are looking for more overstable putter ideas that are in the same vein as the zone, but slightly different, I highlight a few more in my post entitled 13 Discs for Disc Golfers Moving from Beginner to Intermediate.
For utility approach putter, however, it is going to be understable and able to hold anhyzer lines. This comes in extremely handy when you are trying to get around obstacles and shape shots towards the basket. I have one in my bag which I highlighted in a post dedicated to utility discs. But that doesn’t mean I can’t shop around a little!

The PA-5, from Prodigy, is an extremely highly rated understable putt & approach disc. This disc is glidey as all get-out and can hold those anhyzer lines perfectly. You can also use it for some hyzer-flip straighter shots at the basket.
I love discs where I can envision an anhyzer line around an obstacle and the disc can stay on that line and track towards the basket. The PA-5 is one such disc.

The Pixel, from Axiom, is a super popular disc in the Simon Line that exploded in 2024.
If you can get your hands on one it’s a circle 2 assassin. Just start on a line towards the basket and watch it float towards it and slide right in.

The Jarn, from Kastaplast, is a 4.5 speed midrange/approach putter hybrid! And no, it does not meet my very strict criteria due to number of reviews. But this disc is sweet!
It’s overstable, weaves through headwind like it’s not even there, and can handle forehand torque with ease. You could even argue that this is the only disc for that overstable putter/midrange slot! And you know I like that Kastaplast plastic!

Highest Rated Discs – MIDRANGE DISCS!
I won’t lie. I absolutely love midrange discs. As it stands right now, I’m choosing a midrange disc for my one-disc round. You can read about it here, and offer up your ideas on which disc you would choose as well!

The Quake, by DGA, is in my bag and my overstable midrange of choice! I like it because it’s not so “beefy” that I have to muscle it up to get it to go straight, but it doesn’t flinch if you throw it into a strong headwind or rip on it with a forehand.
To me, it has that perfect balance and I know I can trust it in any condition! It feels good in my hand, has good grip, and is an all-around rock-solid disc!

Wow! I just realized that in the ranking game, The Reactor is neck and neck with The Quake (highlighted above)! I can see why they are each so popular. The are both great discs!

Similar to the Jarn, I’m not 100% clear where The Kaxe Z should be slotted. But unlike the Jarn, it’s between midrange and fairway driver. Nevertheless I am intrigued!
The Kaxe Z is a highly rated 6-speed disc with a glide of 5. A lot of the reviewers say that it fills an important role when a fairway driver is too much to get there and a midrange doesn’t quite cut it. And that is EXACTLY why it makes my wish list! Add in that great Kastaplast plastic and I’m in!

2024 Introduced Paige Pierce’s new disc The Drive and it was certainly received quite well! This disc is a straight shooter that I like for forehand and backhand. It’s got a shallow rim and flat top for great forehand shots as well.
It’s also nice for long sweeping anhyzer shots to get out of trouble or just some good old fashioned distance. It comes in lighter weights certainly makes our list of Lightweight Discs for Big Distance as well!

The Apex, by Gateway, is a straight flying bomber! I do not do well with high-speed overstable discs (yet!). This disc has a great amount of stability, and glides for days. As such, it’s not too much disc for me and I can get consistent, reliable distance with The Apex.

After writing this, two things have become crystal clear. First, I may have a disc addiction. And second, I’m even more convinced that doing my disc shopping in the top rated discs categories is the way to go!
