The following is a review of one of disc golf’s newest brands, Clash Discs. This review is made from the point of view of an intermediate disc golfer, but should translate well to beginners and advanced players as well. Please enjoy and I welcome your feedback at the end.

Clash Discs – An Introduction
When Clash Discs sent me 5 discs to review I found myself teeming with more excitement than usual.
They were the new kid on the disc golf scene, and had been getting a lot of buzz. In addition, given that DGAM is one of my favorite podcasts, I had been getting an extra dose of Clash on the side.
Ultimately, I wanted to know. Was it hype or was there some substance there?
And right here, for fear of burying the lede, I’m going to come out and say it.
Clash Discs sent me 5 discs and 4 made my bag! (One of them depends on wind conditions, however!)
And no they don’t pay me. And yes, I had plenty of discs before it.
So let’s take a look and see what separates Clash Discs in my mind, and see if it’s a good fit for your bag as well!
My First Impression of Clash Discs
Clash Discs was founded in late 2021. From that time until now, they have had a consistent mission.
In essence their mission was this: Make high quality discs that feel great and are easy to use.
So far, based on my experience, mission accomplished!
These discs feel fantastic right out of the box. All flashing and bumps were completely smoothed out. On top of that, the tack and grip feel just right in my hand.
Already, before my first throw, I had a good feeling about them. Then, after throwing Clash for the first time and the months that ensued, I was completely sold.
Throwing Clash Discs
I guess, if 70% of the discs they sent me made my 20-disc bag, it’s not a great stretch to convince you that they throw like a dream.
They do! I’ll get into specifics later for each disc, but there is a wonderful feel, glide and flight pattern that I found with the Clash Discs that I received.
In addition, and perhaps most importantly, I could consistently do shot shapes that I was previously unable to do with other discs.
In the end, I can confidently recommend these discs no matter what stage you are at in your disc golf career. Whether your brand new or a seasoned veteran, Clash Discs will have a great option for you…
One Other Thing I Appreciate About Clash Discs
Typically, when a pro signs a contract with a disc manufacturer, there is at least some expectation that you throw some of that manufacturer’s plastic.
This is not the case with Clash Discs.
If you are lucky enough to sign with them, they do not expect you to throw even one disc in your bag. Not even one!
Sure, some of this is for practical purposes. Clash does not yet have a full line of discs so it makes sense that they would at least be open bag.
But, the part I really appreciate is that they want their sponsored players to throw Clash only if it’s what they choose.
This shows, to me, that they are putting a premium on quality.
They know their discs are good and they think their pros (and you) will agree.
If you don’t think it’s up to the standard you require, they want to know about it so they can bring it up to that standard.
Just another feature I appreciate about Clash Discs. They’re really raising the bar!
Now let’s look at what I appreciated about each disc I received…
Ranking the Clash Discs I Received
As I said before, Clash Discs sent me 5 discs and 4 made my rather tiny bag.
That’s no small feat, and, in truth, I liked them all.
The discs I received were (from putter to distance driver) Popcorn, Mango, Cookie, Soda, and Wild Honey.
I’m going to start with the one, however, that did not make my bag and explain why. This will be #5 and we’ll work our way to #1 which is making a bid to be my favorite disc!
Disc #5 – Mango – 5, 4, 0, 4
Positives: Mango, by all accounts is still a very good disc. It feels great, fights wind, glides nicely and doesn’t dump off like some overstable discs. One way it could still make the bag is the ground play. I could really get this disc skipping and moving off the ground.
Reason for Not Making Bag: In essence, I didn’t think the flight ratings matched up with the flight. This mostly altered my forehand shots. In general, when I see 0 Turn and 4 Fade I’m expecting the disc to come back on almost any shot. In more than one instance, I put some torque on it for a forehand expecting it to flip back and fade around the corner only to watch it turn and burn in the opposite direction.
So, maybe if I change my expectations for it (or they change the flight ratings), it’ll make its way in. For now, however, it won’t get the overstable midrange slot because I rely so heavily on the forehand anhyzer to navigate through and around obstacles.
Disc #4 – Wild Honey! 12, 5, -2, 2
Positives: Quite simply, this is my farthest traveling backhand disc.
As advertised it flips up easy and glides for days.
Reason for Making Bag Half the Time: Why, you ask, does your farthest flying backhand disc only make the bag half the time? Answer: Wind.
As an intermediate player, wind can still give me fits. And basically, I couldn’t control Wild Honey in the wind on a consistent basis.
For this reason it stays in the car for those windy rounds and comes out for the rest!
Wild Honey – Flight Rating: 12, 5, -2, 2
Wild Honey gets effortless distance for those of us with slower arm speeds. It can flip up and just go!
I use it primarily for backhand and I’ll leave it in the car on windy days.
Check out this backhand bomber here!
Disc #3 – Cookie! 7, 5, 0, 2
Let’s not kid ourselves here. Almost every disc manufacturer has to have that “Teebird slot” filled at one point or another.
With Clash Discs, it’s The Cookie.
And it just so happens that the Cookie gives my Teebird the bump. It’s more of a nudge really, but it has found the bag!
I have a newer Teebird and I tested it alongside the Cookie. I tried my very best to throw them exactly the same. And in truth, they performed almost exactly the same.
So really what gave the Cookie the upper hand were the little things. The smooth, flashing-free, great-feeling plastic is what tipped the scales in favor of the Cookie.
That and I wanted to be a little different.
If you have a Teebird already, you should be fine with that. I don’t think Cookie is going to get you to level up.
But if you don’t, and you have to fill that slot in your bag, the Cookie is a great choice!
Disc #2 – Popcorn! 3, 3, 0, 1
Can I just say that I love this disc.
As is the case with all the Clash Discs, it feels great. But that’s only the beginning.
As a driving putter, it’s a thing of beauty. It has that gentle turn and it glides on and on (I would honestly recommend they adjust their flight rating to have a glide of 4). It definitely outdistances my other putters and the exertion is effortless.
And because of the glide, when I’m deep in circle 2 and beyond, I’m reaching for the popcorn if I want to make a bid. At that distance it’s laser straight and just holds the line you put it on.
Finally, what also gets me so excited about the Popcorn is the fact that it has now become my go to short range utility disc for tight spots. I can trust it to hold some of those steeper lines I need to put it on, and it has displaced my previous utility disc that I didn’t use for anything else.
The Popcorn is the Swiss-Army Knife of discs and I can’t recommend it enough!
Disc #1 – Soda! 7, 5, -2, 2
Not only is Soda my favorite Clash disc, but it’s in the running for my favorite disc that I own.
This disc is an absolute gem!
It’s the got the great hand feel that I’ve noticed with every Clash disc. It’s flight path and glide are top notch.
But what I truly appreciate about this disc is it’s versatility. This thing holds any line that I’ve put it on and doesn’t waiver in the slightest. I can wing this thing around corners on a forehand anhyzer and it just holds and delivers each time. This has already allowed me to get out of some really sticky situations on the course without compromising on distance.
It’s like a 7-speed utility disc that I also use for just about every shot you can think of. I use it a lot each round and I can’t imagine you wouldn’t find a use for it as well.
I truly believe that players of all levels will appreciate what Soda offers their games!
Soda – Flight Rating: 7, 5, -2, 2
This disc they call Soda does it all and should get strong consideration as a one disc round option. It’s got the perfect stability for players of all levels and can hold most lines that you put it on to escape some tricky situations out on the course.

My Clash Wish List!
Because I have had such an amazing experience with their products, I now have a wish list of discs that I want to try out.
Here are some of the discs that I am eager to throw.
If you have any experience with them, let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Wish List Disc #1 – Spice
Spice Flight Rating: 10, 3, 0, 3
This disc looks like it found that perfect balance between overstable but not too overstable. It can handle the torque you put on it, forehand or backhand, but won’t dump off too soon either. Sign me up!
If, like me, you’re intrigued by the Spice, find it here!
Wish List Disc #2 – Blueberry Glow Berry!
Berry Flight Rating: 5, 5, -1, 1
I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for midranges and especially glowing midranges. The fact that it glows blue? All the better! The reviews are also great and I trust Clash implicitly.
Check out the Berry here!
Disc Wishlist #3 – Mint!
Mint Flight Rating: 4, 3, 0, 3
Having tested other Clash products I’m excited to try this overstable approach disc Mint. It’s stable enough to handle the torque of a forehand or gustier headwinds. But it’s also soft enough to nestle up next to the basket for a low-stress putt before you move on to the next hole.
Check out the Mint here!
Disc Wishlist #4 – Lotus!
Lotus Flight Rating: 8, 5, -1, 2
At the time of this post, this is not yet ready for public consumption (It’s out now! Check it out here!) but it looks like a gem. This is a Nate Perkins signature disc that looks to be great for forehand and backhand.
You can read about it at Clash’s blog here!
Release Date: 6/16/23 in Special Blend & 7/14/23 in Steady! After these dates The Lotus can be found here!
Is Clash Worth The Hype? – In Summary
In a word, yes!
Clash sent me 5 discs and 4 of them have found a slot in my bag.
These are high-quality discs that feel great and fly better.
For me, they were all wonderful discs but Popcorn and Soda are in that rarefied air! I anticipate that they’ll be in my bag for a while to come.
And because I had such a great experience, I’ve added more to my wish list! But there are plenty more that may intrigue you.
For their full selection you can check out all the Clash discs here.
To me, from the moment I got my hands on them, it was so glaringly obvious that they put a premium on quality.
And based on the fact that they don’t even make their sponsored pros throw even one of their discs, I believe them when they claim that they only want their players to choose Clash discs because it’s what they think is best. This puts an emphasis on making the highest quality products and it comes through loud and clear.
If you haven’t had the chance, I highly recommend that you give Clash Discs a try. You will not regret it!
