Sometimes, the course you choose is completely dependent on your mood. On this particular day, I was in for a solitary walk in the woods. Highlands Disc Golf Course in Conway, MA absolutely delivered.

Highlands disc golf course is a laid-back course with plenty of shade and even a scenic view to be found. This is a place to go to practice your accuracy and enjoy a nice day outside. With plenty of tree coverage, I can imagine it would be considerably cooler on a very hot summer day as well.

Though not a particularly long course, there are still plenty of technical shots to be had. And despite a fair amount of trees, whenever my disc did find one, it somehow wasn’t nearly as maddening.

With it’s well-manicured, easy to navigate trails and low foot traffic, it’s also a great place to get a round in and let the stress float away. This one is in immediate contention for my favorite course within a half-hour radius of my house.

Signature Holes

scenic view of forests and mountains
Pop out of the woods at hole 10 and take in this scenic view at Highlands Disc Golf Course in Conway, MA!

These are just of the opinion of the writer. With each course I like to showcase a few holes and explain what stuck out to me on that particular day. Then, I let the photos do the talking…

The top signature hole at Highlands disc golf course in Conway, MA is hole #10. Not only does it have some nice wooden furniture at the tee pad, but it runs parallel to some very scenic views. Just step out from the trees, ignore the power lines, and take in a very nice, nearly unadulterated scene (photo above). Here are some other nice holes…

Hole 1 – Head down the well-tended fairway of hole 1 and enjoy a leisurely walk in the woods at Highlands course.

Hole 10 – The Adiriondack furniture sits behind the tee box and the scenic views are a few short steps away…

Hole 13 – The woods guide your way on hole 13. Be sure to hit the fairway or miss right (steep hill on left).

Safety Note: In the later holes there are a few instances where there is a pretty steep drop-off. If your disc finds it’s way down the hill, like mine did, take good care to make your way slowly up and down the slope.

Ideas to Borrow for Future Course

Some day I would like to construct my own disc golf course. Come along for the ride and see if I do (Subscribe)! With each course, I play, I want to find some element that I appreciate and can use for a course I help create some day…

I’ve already alluded to this earlier, and I don’t fully know how to capture it either… Basically though, my favorite element of this course was the extremely low-key vibe. I was very relaxed while playing my round there. So, if I build a course, I will be sure to have plenty of holes in the woods. But, how else do you capture that low-stress vibe? I would appreciate your ideas in the comments.

19th Hole

After a round there is nothing better than going to a local establishment, having a beer (or whatever you want), some food, and talking about your round (or just disc golf in general). This section is always open to suggestions on where the best place to go after your round is…

You’ve got a few options for the 19th hole after a round at Highlands Disc Golf course in Conway, MA. The ones I like are about 20 minutes away.

Treehouse Brewery – Deerfield, MA – Treehouse is an award-winning brewery with many satellites that started up in 2021. One such satellite is located in Deerfield, MA. At this site, you can get a beer, lounge outside and even get a delicious brick-oven pizza. Treehouse is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Also, you can book online to be sure you get beer tickets (haven’t sold out yet)This option will be on the pricier side and you try Greenfield for more economical options.

Downtown Greenfield – Downtown Greenfield is a very good place to go for a wide variety of pubs. If you’re feeling inspired, you can even do an impromptu pub crawl. My personal favorite is People’s Pint. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere, good food and delicious home brews. If you are into chicken wings, then The Hangar is probably the spot for you. Greenfield has other good options as well, so head that way and see what strikes your fancy when you arrive!

Course In Summary

Highlands Disc Golf Course in Conway, MA, is a nice, relaxing round right off the tee box at hole 1. Even though it is in the woods, it’s not frustratingly difficult, while still providing plenty of challenge as well.

In the summer, I would imagine, given it’s ample shade, that it’s significantly cooler than other courses. In the autumn, it’s quite appealing to see the fall foliage as you play your round. Whatever season you go, be sure to step out of the woods at hole ten and drink in the views.

After drinking in views, grab a drink after the round at some of the nicer options within a 20 minute radius and complete a great day out.

For a genuinely relaxing round of disc golf, Highlands Disc Golf Course in Conway, MA does not disappoint!
