Course review Introduction

Some courses, you just know right away.

And when I pulled up during a lunch break on a Tuesday and saw a parking lot full of cars, I knew.

Crane Hill Disc Golf Course has something… And not to pat myself on the back, but I was right!

This course has an incredibly fun mix of open holes and wooded holes built into the side of a mountain. The curators of the course clearly take great care to set out a meaningful layout and the upkeep is obvious.

Another aspect that jumped out to me, was the people driving those cars that were in the lot. This place has an established culture. The other disc golfers on the course were more than willing to direct me to the next hole, or invite me to their Thursday Doubles League.

It was good vibes all around, and made for a great day.

The end result is that you get a complete disc golf experience.

Let’s look at some more details to help make your experience as positive as mine.

Signature Holes

These are just the opinion of the writer. With each course I like to showcase a few holes and explain what stuck out to me on that particular day. Then, I let the photos do the talking…

Below are some images of some downhill shots in the woods, shots coming out of the woods and even some of the more open field options.

This course has a lot of variability, and different levels for each player.

Ideas to Borrow for Future Course

Basket in the woods by a running creek.
I love babbling brooks by disc golf holes! 2 of my favorite sounds!

Some day I would like to construct my own disc golf course. Come along for the ride and see if I do (Subscribe)! With each course, I play, I want to find some element that I appreciate and can use for a course I help create some day…

Many things stood out to me about this course. Some are easily replicable and others not as much.

First, I liked how the course had different length baskets for different skill levels.

Secondly, I appreciated the variability of woods and open shots. I also liked the different terrains and how there were uphill and downhill shots.

Finally, I really appreciated the culture, and would want any course I’m involved with to have something similar.

19th Hole

After a round there is nothing better than going to a local establishment, having a beer (or whatever you want), some food, and talking about your round (or just disc golf in general). This section is always open to suggestions on where the best place to go after your round is…

two mugs of brown liquids
Relax and have a pint after your round. Get a bite to eat as well and feel free to let disc golf be the topic du jour!

After a round, there are a few nice options to consider. I didn’t have time on this particular day, but if I did, I might consider heading to The Daily Pint which is only 5 minutes away by car.

If you have other ideas, let me know in the comments!

Course In Summary

Crane Hill Disc Golf Course has a lot going for it. It has a bustling disc golf community that comes to a course that has a little of everything.

That course has varied levels for each hole. It has hills, woods, open shots, babbling brooks and plenty more.

It’s also very clear that the course is well-maintained.
